The Trademarks Act of 1969 is applicable law to Trademarks in Sudan.

Sudan is a member of Madrid Agreement since May 16, 1984.

Sudan is also a member of the Madrid Protocol since February 16, 2010.

Sudan follows the International Nice Classification of Goods and Services for the Purposes of the Registration of Marks with some exceptions for prohibited goods.

Trademark Application is examined both on absolute and relative grounds.

A trademark registration in Sudan is valid for 10 years from the date of filing the trademark application, renewable for periods of 10 years each.

There is no requirement for declaration of use at filing stage. Non-use post registration for consecutive of years may be prone to cancellation action by interested parties.
