The Copyright Law No. 25 of 1995 was issued on July 22, 1995 and published in the Official Gazette No. 14 dated August 12, 1995.
It is possible to deposit literary and artistic works and computer software with the Copyright Protections office. However, procedural/rules of the law have not yet been framed and no registration certificate has yet been issued.
*Law No. 7 of 2002 for the Protection of Copyright and Neighboring was issued. The Law establishes the Office for the Protection of the Copyright and Neighboring Rights within the Commercial Affairs Department of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce. However, the Implementing Regulations has not yet been issued.
Qatar is a member of the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works as of July 5, 2000.
