Federal Trade Mark Law No.37 of 1992, which has come into force on January 12, 1993. * Trademark Law No. 8 0f 2002 amended Federal Trade Mark Law No. 37 of 1992.

| Classification: |
International Classification. However, marks for goods in class No.33 relating to alcoholic beverage cannot be registered. |
| Examination: |
Examination as to registrability and existence of prior rights. A one-month period is allowed for opposition against published trademarks. |
| Duration: |
A trademark registration is valid for 10 years as from the date of filing the application renewable for similar periods. A grace period of 3 months is allowed for late renewal with a fine. |
| Use: |
Union-use for 5 A registration can be assigned but with goodwill and business concerned. |
| Use: |
Use is not a precondition for registration or maintaining registration. However, non-use for 5 years following registration makes the registration vulnerable to cancellation. |
| Assignment: |
Assignment of a registered trademark is possible with or without the goodwill of business. In order that an assignment is effective vis-à-vis third parties it must be recorded in the register. |
Border Measures:
Trademark Recordation System with the Dubai Customs.
